Clonmel Credit Union Launches New Entrant Farming Award

Clonmel Credit Union, in association with the South Tipperary Irish Farmers Association (IFA) and the West Waterford IFA, was proud to launch the New Entrant to Farming Award at this year's Clonmel Show.

The award has been created to recognise and support the next generation of farmers across Tipperary and West Waterford at a time when the agricultural sector faces increasing challenges, including rising costs and concerns about the future of family farming.

With a total prize fund of €7,000, the initiative aims to encourage and celebrate individuals who are building a future in agriculture. The overall winner will receive €5,000, while the runner-up will receive €2,000, with both prizes sponsored by Clonmel Credit Union.

The award is open to new entrants who are actively involved in farming on a full-time or part-time basis across all sectors of agriculture, including livestock, tillage, breeding, horticulture and agri-tourism.

Applicants should demonstrate a clear vision for the future of their farm, embrace innovation and sustainable farming practices, and show proven involvement in the day-to-day management and financial operation of their farming enterprise.

The New Entrant to Farming Award reflects Clonmel Credit Union's ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, rural development and the future of agriculture throughout the region.

Applications close on 31 August. Following a shortlisting process, selected applicants will be invited for interview, with the winner and runner-up announced in September.
